Richard Pepper's
May 2009

Most of the following picture or text links take you to a Blog entry with more pictures.

Northwood Park Church of Christ

Yard Cleanup
May 5

A number of us gathered that day to rake and bag leaves, and clear brush and garbage. Even Kristian helped out. He would put several handfuls of leaves into my bag, then go to his grandparents clearing brush, visit Isabella the dog and then return to help me. He repeated this circuit several times until the leaves were gone. Then he took me to watch the traffic lights and gave me a lesson in "stop" and "go!".

New Youtube Vid

Watch it at Youtube.

Coffeehouse
May 24

We had quite a turnout of performers and their friends who came to watch! Not only did we have the usual poets and singers, plus the return of "Martin Wonderland" the Magician, but we had one of our church members' paintings on display. A highlight for me was the return of Brian Dunn to song-writing/performing, along with Robin Harbron. Three acts came to join us that night through contacting me on Facebook!!

See my gigs page re. my own small part in the evening.

Sunday, May 31

Click the picture of Diane cutting her 70th birthday cake* for pictures of that event and few others from that day.

* By which I mean "her cake for her 70th birthday party**" since she may have had fewer or more than 70 birthday cakes in her life.

** By which I mean "her party for her 70th birthday" since she may have had fewer or more than 70 birthday parties in her life.

BTW it wasn't actually her 70th birthday, anyway. That happened on June 6th.

Music

I actually completed this video for my "Seven Answers of Sunday School" in June, but I thought I'd let you know about on this month's page.

Watch it fullsize at Youtube.

This link will take you to a youtube slideshow of Manitoba Pioneer Camp pix set to two medleys I recorded a few years ago of "Gospel" music: one on fiddle (& grungy guitar) & one on harmonica.

See my gigs page re. my own small part in our church's coffeehouse on Bob Dylan's birthday (May 24th).

Most of my musical energy these days is put into playing guitar for Pope John Paul II (the school choir, that is!), church and Senior homes.

Parties

Victor Wong's Birthday Party at Boston Pizza
May 18th ("Victor" Day)

LUCF

Farewell to Velda Williams-Sande
May 5

The funding to Velda's job as Con College chaplain was cut, and so the position was discontinued. Velda and I were on the Thunder Bay IVCF Area Committee together.

Theatre/Acting

Cambrian Players 60th Anniversary Gala
May 30th
Finlandia Hall

Click long-time Cambrian Players members (and family friends), Karl & Marianne Wahl, to see pix of this event.

This month we also presented Maureen Hunter's "Beautiful Lake Winnipeg" directed by Jim Hobson. I didn't have a lot to do with the production this time, although I help with Front of House a couple of nights, and so earned an invitation to the Wrap Party. (We had pizza, but no wraps.) Here are some pix (of the play) from the official Cambrian Players' website.

The production did feature my former Thunder Bay Christian School student (and Dorion Bible Camp camper/staff), Millie Gormley (nee Kamphof).

Arrowhead Ministries/Ishaawin Family Resources

Fundraiser Breakfast
May 23

NAN Grand Chief Stan Beardy was the guest speaker.

Art

My Lord of the Rings Art from my Highschool Days

Because I had attended a LOTR meeting back in March on my birthday, I was prompted to upload my art from my LOTR-obsessed days at Churchill High.

Click Gollum to see the whole collection.
